At the time of the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, several Ford models headed to Las Vegas for the 2012 CES (International Consumer Electronics Show). However, the American automaker was not flaunting their suspension or lineup enhancements. Rather, the Blue Oval had the Ford Fusion Electric (Energi) and Ford Focus Electric on exhibit.
We expect both cars to reach Huntington Beach Ford in Huntington Beach, California late this year or early next year. Both concepts are ready to start mass production and the American automaker plans to have them produced here in the United States.
The American automaker has improved the longevity of battery packs for future models. Both the Fusion Electric and the Focus Electric will designate "green zones" on your drive, allowing enhanced use of battery life.
As Daily Tech adds: "On your commute home, your hybrid would optimize its use of the gasoline engine and the electric motor/batteries to ensure that by the time you cross the threshold of your neighborhood that there would be enough charge left to cruise into your driveway on battery power alone."1
We won't see Ford's green zone technology for a few more years. However, the powerful cells that fuel the Fusion Electric and the Focus Electric cars are current technology. We have no doubt that you will be test driving them soon!
